Ghana’s inflation rate saw a slight decline in February 2025, dropping to 23.1% from the 23.5% recorded in January. The decrease was largely influenced by a reduction in food inflation, which fell by 1.8 percentage points.
Government Statistician, Prof. Samuel Kobina Annim, addressing journalists, noted that the continuous drop in food inflation has played a significant role in the overall inflation trend.
“In the last four months, you’ve seen a consistent decline in food inflation on a month-on-month basis, declining by 2.0 percentage points between November 2024 and February 2025,” he stated.
Despite the marginal drop, Prof. Annim highlighted that February’s annual inflation rate remains one of the highest recorded in the past ten months.
The latest inflation data reflects ongoing economic challenges, with food prices continuing to be a major factor in inflationary trends. Economic analysts will be monitoring whether this downward trajectory will persist in the coming months.
