Juliana Amoateng named Ghana’s Creative Ambassador for Behind the Scenes Project

Ghanaian beauty content creator and operations professional, Juliana Amoateng, has been named the National Creative Ambassador for Ghana under the Behind the Scenes (BtS) project, a multi-country African research initiative focused on young women in the creative industry.

Juliana Amoateng announced the appointment on her social media platforms, describing the opportunity as both an honour and the beginning of a new journey aimed at amplifying the voices and lived experiences of creatives across Africa.

The Behind the Scenes project seeks to examine the realities, opportunities, experiences and gender inequalities faced by young women working within the creative sector in countries including Ghana, Kenya, Nigeria, Rwanda, Ethiopia, Senegal and Uganda.

The project is funded by the Mastercard Foundation, implemented by the International Center for Research on Women (ICRW Africa), and managed in Ghana by the University of Cape Coast.

In her new role, Juliana Amoateng is expected to help translate research findings into relatable conversations and storytelling that resonate with young creatives while drawing attention to issues affecting women within the industry.

She indicated that over the coming months, she would be sharing stories, insights, conversations and perspectives emerging from the project to help promote representation, visibility and opportunities for young women creatives.

The BtS project also seeks to generate evidence-based strategies aimed at addressing gender disparities and systemic barriers affecting young women in Ghana’s and Africa’s creative sectors.

Juliana Amoateng has built a strong online presence through beauty, fashion, lifestyle and personal development content, and is also recognised for her background in project management and organisational operations.

She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics Education from the University of Education, Winneba, and later obtained certification in Project Management from Certified Ghana. She also completed foundational studies in French at Alliance Française before earning a Master’s degree in Project Management from the University of Ghana Business School.

Project organisers say her appointment is expected to support advocacy, visibility and transformative action aimed at promoting equity, inclusion and dignified opportunities for young women creatives across the continent.
