I battled imposter syndrome at Miss Grand International – Faith Maria Porter

Miss Grand Ghana 2025 and third runner-up at Miss Grand International 2025, Faith Maria Porter, has spoken candidly about battling imposter syndrome while competing against contestants from around the world on the international stage.

Speaking on Rythmz Live with Teacher Blessing on GHOne TV, Faith Maria Porter reflected on the pressure of representing Ghana among 80 contestants from different countries and how her faith helped her remain grounded throughout the competition.

According to her, being surrounded by accomplished and beautiful women from across the globe sometimes made her question whether she truly belonged on the international stage.

“Yes, I was one of 80 contestants from all around the world. Every single continent was represented and when you see such beautiful women sometimes you have imposter syndrome and you think, ‘Okay, do I deserve to be here? Do I belong here?’” she said.

Porter explained that her upbringing in a Christian home played a major role in helping her stay authentic and focused during the pageant journey.

“My family are pastors so I grew up in the church. My name is Faith and that’s what I kept managing myself,” she stated.

The beauty queen said she approached the competition with gratitude rather than pressure, focusing more on making Ghana and her family proud than solely on winning the crown.

“I didn’t need to win. I didn’t even need to make the top five. I just needed to make my family and I needed to make my country proud,” she said.

Porter described her achievement of placing in the top five and eventually emerging as third runner-up as a blessing, adding that she constantly remembered the other contestants she competed with during the Miss Grand Ghana pageant.

“There were other women who I competed with for the title of Miss Grand Ghana who didn’t win and who also had such amazing experiences at the national competition, so I just kept them in my heart,” she added.

She further revealed that maintaining a grateful mindset helped her compete with confidence and composure despite the intense spotlight of the international competition.

“I went in with my head held high just being so grateful and so thankful for the opportunity,” Porter said.

Faith Maria Porter’s performance at Miss Grand International earned praise from many Ghanaians and marked one of Ghana’s notable achievements at the global beauty pageant competition.
