President Mahama joins global leaders in Gabon for innovation and development forum

President of Ghana, H.E. John Dramani Mahama has arrived in Libreville, Gabon, to participate in the inaugural Libreville International Forum for Innovation and Development, a high-level gathering focused on political stability, investment, and artificial intelligence as key drivers of economic transformation across Africa.

The forum has brought together Heads of State, senior government officials, global investors, and technology experts from across Africa and beyond to explore strategies aimed at accelerating sustainable development, strengthening governance, and advancing the continent’s innovation ecosystem.

Held under the patronage of Gabonese President Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema, the event is themed “Political Stability, Business Climate, and Artificial Intelligence: Catalysts for Growth.”

According to a statement issued by Ghana’s Presidential Spokesperson and Minister for Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, the forum is intended to position Gabon as a regional innovation hub and a strategic destination for international investment while contributing to broader continental discussions on growth and modernization.

Organisers are also using the occasion to inaugurate the newly constructed Omar Bongo Ondimba Congress Centre in Libreville, which hosted the forum and is expected to serve as a major venue for future international dialogue, diplomacy, and cooperation.

The forum is expected to conclude with the adoption of the “Libreville Declaration,” a strategic framework that will outline commitments by African political leaders to strengthen governance, promote transparency, and accelerate digital integration across the continent.

The statement further noted that President Mahama remains a strong advocate for partnerships that bridge government policy and private-sector growth, with the broader goal of ensuring inclusive and sustainable development for African nations.
