The Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD) of the Ghana Police Service has trained selected police personnel and public sector partners in the Volta Region ahead of the operationalisation of the Traffitech-GH project.
The training, organised in collaboration with the project’s private sector partner, was held on Thursday, September 24, 2026, at the Stevens Hotel Conference Room in Ho.
It forms part of preparations for the commencement of Traffitech-GH on October 1, 2026, in accordance with Regulation 242, and was the fifth and final session in a series of nationwide enforcement training programmes.
A total of 45 participants took part in the programme, including MTTD personnel from Ho and representatives of the Judicial Service, National Road Safety Authority (NRSA), National Insurance Commission (NIC) and Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA).
The participants were also introduced to key provisions of the Road Traffic Regulations, 2026 (L.I. 2519), and the Road Traffic (Amendment) Act, 2025 (Act 1153).
The training covered automated road traffic offences and fines under Regulation 242, the operation and implementation of the Traffitech-GH system, as well as the contest flow for disputed offences.
The selected back-office team from the Volta Region also received practical training on the use of the in-vehicle fixed camera and the handheld or tripod Lasercam4 speed camera.
As part of the preparations for the October 1 operationalisation, the Volta Region back office has been set up with the updated Traffitech-GH software at the Regional MTTD Office in Ho.
The training is expected to equip the relevant enforcement and public sector personnel with the knowledge and practical skills required to support the implementation of the automated road traffic enforcement system in the region.
