President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has congratulated President-elect John Dramani Mahama on his decisive win in the 2024 Presidential Election. The acknowledgment follows the official declaration of results by Electoral Commission Chairperson, Mrs. Jean Mensa, on December 9, 2024.
In a phone call to the President-elect, President Akufo-Addo pledged his commitment to ensuring a smooth transition of power on January 7, 2025. He expressed his readiness to collaborate with Mr. Mahama and his team to facilitate a seamless transfer of responsibilities.
The President commended the Electoral Commission and the Ghanaian people for conducting a peaceful and credible election, reaffirming Ghana’s democratic credentials. He also praised the active participation of all stakeholders, which he said has sustained the nation’s democratic process.
Calling for unity, President Akufo-Addo urged all Ghanaians to work together to strengthen democracy and the rule of law.To begin the transition process, the President has invited the President-elect to a meeting at Jubilee House on December 11, 2024. The meeting is expected to set the tone for collaboration in the coming weeks.
